The AbleGamers Foundation and its Board of Directors remain focused on the organization’s mission of ensuring that players with disabilities have access to the experiences, connections, and joy that gaming provides.  We take our commitment to accessibility seriously, and that includes ensuring we maintain a respectful workplace that is open to all people.

We recently became aware of an article leveling anonymous allegations against AbleGamers’ former executive director.  We did not receive communications from the reporter asking to comment on these allegations before the article went to publication.  Although we will not comment on the specifics of any personnel matters, AbleGamers and its Board of Directors have taken and will continue to take appropriate, timely action to investigate and address any concerns that are brought to the organization’s attention.

Last year, after evaluating the overall structure and finances of the organization, the Board of Directors made a number of difficult decisions to right-size and refocus the organization on its core programs.  This included reducing the number of staff and reassessing the vitality and effectiveness of some of AbleGamers’ programming; notably, peer counseling was not one of the eliminated programs as stated in the article.

These decisions were made carefully, deliberately, and in the best interests of the organization.  We believe in AbleGamers’ mission, we are proud of our staff and the difference they make for gamers with disabilities, and we are excited for the future of the organization.

Celebrating 20 Years of Changing Lives

AbleGamers has been creating opportunities that enable play in order to combat social isolation, foster inclusive communities, and improve the quality of life for people with disabilities for 20 years.

People with disabilities are 51% more likely to be socially isolated than their non-disabled peers.

You want people with disabilities to have rich well rounded lives that let them be their best selves and to have something to look forward to. Your support works every day to bring play to those desperately needing it, and we do it at no cost to the people we serve.
