Nathalie sustained a spinal cord injury when a large branch fell on her. She was taken to Mount Sinai, one of AbleGamers partners, for care. After treatment, she was transitioned back home and connected with us. We learned a lot about Nathalie, including that she was bullied a lot in school, and she has always used video games as a coping mechanism and a way to escape. With a life changing injury affecting her life, she needed video games now more than ever.

We presented Nathalie with various options to try out. She really wanted to utilize her arms, so she ultimately decided on an Xbox Adaptive Controller setup.  AbleGamers sent someone to her home to help her get setup and after learning her new peripherals, she can play most of her favorite games again.

Gaming can be such a major part of people’s lives, especially people with disabilities. Nathalie said, “I think it’s important because when you’re disabled there’s limited things that you can do anymore. And gaming is one thing that gives you a way of entertaining yourself and honing your skills and to past time.” We are so happy to have joined Nathalie in her quest to game again.
